Eddie MacDonald wins ACT 150-lapper,
Spencer Morse outruns PASS Mod foes
on night before the 250
Oxford, Maine - Eddie MacDonald of Rowley, Massachusetts, known as 'The Outlaw' in Late Model racing circles, added to his impressive resume in that class at Oxford Plains Speedway Saturday night with a win in the headlining American-Canadian Tour 150-lapper at the historic Route 26 oval racetrack in Oxford, Maine.

MacDonald, twice a winner of the prestigious Oxford 250 during its' brief period as a Late Model race, will try for his third triumph in Maine's Greatest Racing Classic on Sunday afternoon in his Super Late Model ride. On Saturday he took the race lead away from young Vermonter Evan Hallstrom, then outraced ACT championship contender Jimmy Hebert of Williamstown, Vermont to the checkered flag.

Hallstrom ended up with a career-first ACT Late Model Tour podium finish. 'Mad' Max Dolliver of Londonderry, New Hampshire impressed in his first-ever ACT appearance, racing to a fourth-place finish in the Chad Sullivan 0. Steuben's Rowland 'Rockin JR' Robinson rounded out the top five.

Spencer Morse of Waterford made his second-ever PASS Mods start a memorable one, winning the 40-lap race for the open-wheel Pro All Stars Series class at the track he grew up at, watching his father and even previous generations of family succeed.

Morse became the first second-generation PASS Mods winner. His father, Richie Morse, almost won the PASS Mods championship in 2005 and is a former champion in the old Limited Sportsman class. Spencer Morse led all 40 laps en route to victory, outdistancing former OPS Street Stock champion Gary Shackford - who had raced the winner's dad once or twice before - to the checkered flag.

Morse and Shackford were chased under the checkered flag by Adam Gray of Belchertown, Massachusetts, another relative newcomer to the division. Points leader and defending PASS Mods champion Ben Tinker of New Gloucester was the fourth-place finisher, ahead of former Mods champion Mark Lucas of Harpswell.

Billy Childs, Jr. of Leeds won his fifth main event of the season in the Allen's Coffee Flavored Brandy Street Stock class. Childs, the champion of the division last season, took the lead away from David Vaughn of Naples and cruised to victory in impressive fashion.

Vaughn held off a fast-closing Rodney Williams Racing teammate, Matt Dufault of Turner, to earn runner-up honors. Dufault remained atop the Allen's Coffee Flavored Brandy championship standings with his third-place finish. Zach Bowie of Turner and Gray's Tyler king rounded out the top five.

Jamie Heath of Waterford added yet another victory in yet another class to his Oxford Plains Speedway resume, prevailing in a 30-lap race for the new North East Mini Stock Tour Cyclone class. Gorham, New Hampshire native Cody Leblanc was the runner-up, with hometown racer Shaun Hinkley third across the start-finish line. Buckfield's Chad Wills was apparently unhappy with his fourth-place run. Keith Lloyd earned a fifth-place finish.

Duane Skofield of Plaistow, New Hampshire was best in a 20-lap main event for the North East Classic Lites. Waterford, Vermont's Andy Hill was the runner-up, with Robbie Bryant of Weymouth, Massachusetts filling out the podium. Stew McCormack of Plaistow New Hampshire and former Oxford Plains Speedway Mini Stock champion Justin Larsen of Peru rounded out the top five.

Jud Derbyshire of Mount Vernon drove a Rambler to victory in the Wicked Good Vintage Racing Association Late Model race. Kevin Waterhouse of West Paris was the runner-up in a Studebaker. Casco's Bobby Symonds was third under the checkered flag with a 1957 Chevrolet.

Brad Babb of Windham cruised to victory in the Wicked Good Vintage Racing Association Modified race, driving the Goodwin Hannaford 71 to victory lane. Raynham, Massachusetts invader Scott Dion claimed runner-up honors, ahead of Mount Vernon's Sid Smith.

Dale Lawrence of Lisbon nailed down his fifth victory of the year in the 20-lap Figure 8 race. Eric Hodgkins of Minot rebounded from an early incident to finish second, just ahead of current championship points leader Kyle Kilgore of South Paris. Greg Durgin of South Paris and Lisbon's Robert Morey rounded out the top five.

The 45th Annual Oxford 250 weekend, presented by Clark's Scrap Metals, continues on Sunday afternoon at 1:30 p.m., with $50,000-to-win possible for Pro All Stars Series Super Late Model competitors towing in from throughout the United States and Canada in the main event. Oxford Plains Speedway is located at 877 Main Street, on State Route 26 in Oxford, Maine. For more information visit oxfordplains.com or call (207) 539-8865.
