Benjamin Earns Weekly SLM Win |
OXFORD, ME - After a season of bad
luck, Travis Benjamin of Morrell finally nailed down a
win at Oxford Plains Speedway on Saturday night during
The Oxford Championship Series.
Owen Stuart of
Naples won his 7th rookie race of the season. Stuart
battled with Brady Childs side by side for most of the
race with Brady Heath close by in 3rd. Childs got loose
on the last lap and ended up falling to 4th right before
the line. Brady Heath of Waterford got 2nd but was Dq'd
in tech. Officially Cole Binette of Arundel took home
2nd with Brady Childs of Leeds getting 3rd. Dylan Cook
of Minot and Jeremy Turner of Norway rounded out the top
5.
Caleb Proctor of Casco won his first Bandits
race after leading all 20 laps.Jeff Libby of Auburn held
onto pick up 2nd while Dustin Salley of Mechanic Falls
made contact with Grady Doherty's on lap 11 he got loose
Salley passed him to finish in 3rd. Grady Doherty and
Chad Wills finished 4th and 5th respectively.
Matt Dufault of Turner took home his 4th win of the
season in the Street stocks. After making his way
through the field battling Skip Tripp and Dan Brown for
position,Dufault took the lead on lap 12. After 3
cautions and holding off Tripp Dufault took the
checkered. Skip Tripp of Oxford finished a season best
in 2nd while Shawn Knight of South Paris made his way up
after all the cautions to pick up 3rd. Skip Stanley and
Kurt Hewins rounded out the top 5.
Travis
Benjamin started pole for the 50 lap Super Late Model
feature and broke away from the field at the start.
Austin Teras raced in 2nd until lap 8 when he was passed
by former track champ Tim Brackett. Benjamin began
lapping the field entering his own area code. Veteran
Alan Wilson raced against Austin Teras for 3rd finally
taking the position on lap 37. Two time 250 winner
Travis Benjamin of Morrell picked up the win at Oxford
only two weeks before this years Oxford 250 proving that
he may still have another 250 win in him. Tim Brackett
of Buckfield continued his podium streak after having
bad luck during the first part of the season while Alan
Wilson of Hebron finally made it victory lane after
gaining speed in his new Dale Shaw race car,3rd is a
season best for Wilson. Scott Robbins and Austin Teras
fought for position till the end but they Robbins ended
up taking 4th while Teras settled for 5th.
Larry
Lizotte of Poland led all 15 laps of the figure 8
feature to win 4th race of the season. Last week's
winner Dale Lawrence of Minot finished 2nd with Kyle
Glover of Oxford picking up 3rd. |
