Gerry Wins His First
SLM Feature of the Season at OPS
|
OXFORD - Curtis Gerry of Waterboro took
home his first win of the season in the Crazy Horse
Racing Super Late Models division on the July 4 Saturday
night closing out another full day of OAS and OCS
racing.
Garrett Lamb of Windham dominated in the
Allen's Coffee Flavored Brandy Street Stocks leading the
entire 30 laps feature. Lamb took the lead at the start
and pulled away. Dan Brown pulled into 2nd shortly after
with Billy Childs Jr. in 3rd. By lap 17 Jordan Russell
was banging on Childs' bumper trying to take 3rd. Shawn
Knight moved to the outside of Childs and battled for
3rd the rest of the feature. Neck and neck on the final
lap, Knight got him at the line. Garrett Lamb, a
Beechridge regular, topped the field with Dan Brown of
Turner finishing runner up, redeeming himself after a
DNF last week. Shawn Knight of South Paris rounded out
the Top 3.
Brady Heath of Waterford won his 2nd
T&M Commercial Funding Rookies feature of the season.
Jeremy Turner started pole but was passed by Heath at
the start. Heath pulled away from the field and couldn't
be caught. Turner was passed by Dylan Cook for 2nd on
lap 3. After a caution on lap 5 Heath kept the lead and
led the rest of the 15 lap feature. Dylan Cook of Minot
took home a 2nd place finish with Jeremy Turner of
Norway settling for 3rd place.
Travis "the
Tornado" Verrill of Oxford drove his Spencer Paving
Group Bandit straight to victory lane. Adam O'Neil led
for half a lap before Verrill took the lead and led the
rest of the race with Jeff Libby of Auburn in his
rearview mirror. Libby remained there the rest of the
feature while Alex Mowatt of Norway managed to hold off
Chad Wills to take home 3rd place.
Scott Robbins
took the early lead in the SLM with TJ Brackett battling
him for the lead. Curtis Gerry and Mike Rowe weren't too
far behind them racing for 3rd. Brackett eventually fell
back and Gerry took over 2nd place on lap 8. Josh Childs
made his way up to Rowe on lap 23 and took 3rd from him
on lap 26. Garrett Hall, who had been making his way
through the field, got to Childs' bumper and ended up
sliding across the drivers side rear panel before
spinning on the backstretch on lap 31. Childs had no
damage and remained in 3rd place. Alan Wilson spun out
the lap after the restart and brought out another
caution. Gerry took the lead before caution came out.
Robbins fell back to 2nd where Childs was ready to
challenge for 2nd. They battled back and forth until the
final lap. Scott Robbins of Dixfield finished in 2nd
place with Josh Childs of Otisfield rounded out the top
3.
