Thompson Claims First
Career Win
During Oxford Acceleration Series |
Rick Thompson Jr. of Casco was at the right
place at the right time this past Friday and led almost
all 20 laps of the Mainley Ductless Heating and Air
Outlaws to pick up his first career win at Oxford Plains
Speedway.
Jason Cyr of Turner took home his 2nd
win of the season in the 4 Cylinder Figure 8s division.
Cyr led all 15 laps with Kevin Varney and Brandon Varney
chasing him down. After hitting a tire late in the race
K. Varney fell out of the top 3. Brandon Varney of
Mechanic Falls finished in 2nd place with Charlie Hall
Jr finishing behind him in 3rd.
Dominik Knowlton
of Minot topped the field in the Rogee's Auto Repairs
Cruisers. Knowlton took the lead after an early caution
and led the rest of the 20 lap feature. Mickel Martin of
Auburn and Michael Phillips of Turner finished 2nd and
3rd respectively.
Shelby Lawrence of Leeds won
the T&M Funding Ladies feature. Lawrence had some tough
competition with Breeanna Spaulding chasing her down
most of the race and Kasie Kolbe not far behind, but
still managed to lead all 15 laps. Breeanna Spaulding of
Lisbon ended up settling for 2nd place while Kasie Kolbe
of Auburn finished in 3rd.
Ryan Farrar of Oxford
finally picked up his first win of the season in the DnL
Weatherization Sport Trucks. Alex Moore didn't let him
win too easily. Moore spent most of the race chasing him
down and finally reached him during the final laps only
to fall short at the checkered. Alex Moore of Oxford
finished in 2nd with Brad Weismann of Saco getting 3rd.
Adam Oneil of Turner redeemed himself winning his
first official Agren Runnin' Rebels feature of the
season after being Dq'd in tech the week before. John
Childs took the early lead with Corey Roussel in 2nd and
Cam Richards in 3rd. Roussel eventually started falling
back and Oneil found his way up to the front, taking
over 2nd on lap 6. After a caution on lap 15, Oneil took
the lead from Childs and led the rest of the 20 lap
feature. John Childs of Leeds picked up 2nd place with
Addie McDaniel taking home 3rd place.
Chris
Foster took the early lead in the Outlaws before falling
back causing a jumble on the backstretch before the
first lap was complete. Rick Thompson Jr squeezed up to
the front taking the lead. Thompson pulled away and led
the rest of the feature. Billy Childs Sr. moved into 2nd
with Chris Foster in 2nd. After a caution on lap 3, Cam
Childs, Billy Childs Sr. and Foster went 3 wide for 2nd.
B Childs got loose and fell all the way back to the
rear. Chris Foster of Buckfield managed to salvage a 2nd
place finish with Will Dunphy of New Glouester getting
3rd place.
