OXFORD CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES
TIMMY BRACKETT WINS OXFORD
SUPER LATE MODEL RACE,
TAKES OVER CHAMPIONSHIP LEAD
Oxford, Maine -- Defending Oxford Plains Speedway Super Late Model Champion Timmy Brackett of Buckfield vaulted back atop the Budweiser Championship Series rankings Saturday night, nailing down his first victory of the season in the 50-lap main event.

Brackett chased last year's NASCAR Pro Series champion at Beech Ridge, Reid Lanpher of Manchester, through the early stages of the event, then got the lead back on a restart scrum that likely cost Lanpher any shot at victory.

Brackett's closets rival under the checkered flag was Dennis Spencer, Jr., of Oxford. Spencer was comfortably ahead of a torrid, last-lap battle for third position, with Minot's Scott Farrington just able to get by Shawn Knight from South Paris.

Scott Moore of Anson rounded out the top five. The previous week's winner, Spencer Morse of Waterford, just missed the top five. Brackett and Lanpher scored Budweiser Super Late Model heat race victories.

Matt Dufault of Turner nailed down his first win of the season in the Allen's Coffee Flavored Brandy Street Stock division main event. Dufault powered to the front of the field aboard the Rodney Williams 61 and outran Kyle Hewins of Leeds to the checkered flag.

Zach Emerson of Sabattus outraced his teenaged son, Jonathan, to claim the third-place trophy. A late charge into fifth position helped Turner's Calvin Rose, Jr. stay atop the Street Stock championship standings. Hewins and Jonathan Emerson won the heat races.

Hewins followed that runner-up Street Stock run with a victory in the 20-lap feature race for Bandits division competitors. Hewins, filling in for opening day Bandits winner Brandon Varney on Prom night, kept Tyler Green of Turner from getting by throughout the race.

Cam Childs of Leeds made a last-lap move pay off with a third-place finish, just beating Bill Grover of Waterford. Jamie Heath of Waterford rounded out the top five. Bandit heat race wins went to reigning division champion Shaun Hinkley of Oxford, Grover and Brian Hiscock of Turner.

Eric Hodgkins of Minot won his second straight 15-lap Figure 8 race, outrunning Lisbon's Robert Morey to the checkered flag. Reigning division champion Jon Lizotte of Lewiston rebounded to finish third after being helped out of the lead more than once.

The Budweiser Championship Series resumes this Saturday night (May 28) at 7:00 p.m., with Super Late Models topping a four-division stock car racing card. Oxford Plains Speedway is located at 877 Main Street (Route 26) in Oxford, Maine. For more information visit oxfordplains.com or call (207) 539-8865.
