MOTOR MAYHEM #1 RESULTS
A great Saturday night crowd filed into Oxford Plains Speedway to enjoy Round #1 of the popular Motor Mayhem Series. This family fun night was sponsored by Allen’s Coffee Flavored Brandy, and the fans were treated to a night of crashes, smashes, bashes and even a rollover to top off their night. Six events made up the schedule including Spectator Drags, the Smokey Donut Show, Compact Car and Full Size Car Enduros, Pickup Truck Tug O’ War, and the almighty Flag Pole race.

Spectator Drags started off the night’s activities, and after a preliminary round, the racers got serious. When it was all said and done, Brian Darling captured the best two out of three events as he defeated Robert Kahkonen for the top prize.

The Smokey Donut Show was the next event and after the trial run, the top three teams judged by the fans, went at it simultaneously. When the smoke cleared, Jim Pineo was declared the winner in his beautiful 1972 Monte Carlo. Billy Dixon placed second, and David Glidden was third.

The compact Enduro was next as this event was run with an obstacle of tires set up all around the track. The top three cars finished under a blanket, and with the third place drive, Josh Knoll sliding on his roof across the finish line after hitting a tire. Mike St. Germain was awarded the win ahead of Jason Cyr and Knoll.

The full size Enduro ran the same obstacle course as their counterparts, and Josh Knoll rebounded from his flip to win the race over Travis Verrill and Eric Edmonds.

The Pick-up Truck Tug O’ War saw the mighty Dodge of Travis Day defeat the Jeep of Justin Green to take home the top prize.

The final event of the night was the always entertaining Flag Pole race where the cars race the obstacle course, plus have to circle a tire on both the front and back stretch. It all came down to the final tire to circle and Travis Verrill nipped Eric Edmunds by inches for the victory. Edmunds was penalized to third for not circling the tire. Josh Knoll was awarded the second spot.

The next Motor Mayhem event will be held on Sunday night, July 6th at 6pm. For more information on the Motor mayhem Series, or if you would like to sponsor a Motor Mayhem event, call the hotline at 207-539-8865.
