DEANA BISBEE OPENS OAS
WITH SOLID OUTLAW VICTORY |
Opening night for Oxford Plains
Speedway’s Wednesday night Oxford Acceleration Series
opened up this past week with a solid five division
card, and when it was all said and done the winners
included Deana Bisbee, Jamie Heath, Will Dunthy,
Christopher Knox and Missy Morgan.
A solid field
of Outlaws gathered for the season opener, as nineteen
cars battled through qualifying and into the features.
Several cars showed a lot of muscle, but none were as
strong as Deana Bisbee as she held off all challengers
to claim the victory. Josh Toothaker, Bryce Mains,
George Haskell and Dustin Salley chased her to the
stripe. Heat wins went to Bisbee and Haskell.
Jamie Heath captured the victory in the Runnin’ Rebels
twenty lap feature as several contenders fell by the
wayside with mechanical problems. Gerard Cote, Harvey
Poussard, Bill Grover and Josh Straiton completed the
top five. Robert Landers won the qualifying round.
The all new Cruiser division saw Will Dunthy score
the inaugural win as he defeated James Record, Ronnie
O’Brien, John Poulin and Randy Henderson. Carl Conant
carried the heat checkers.
Christopher Knox won a
highly entertaining Sport Truck main event as he passed
race leader Gerry McKenna in traffic with two laps
remaining to pick up the victory. McKenna held on for
the second spot. Mark Grantham, Brian Darling and Kevin
Oliver rounded out the top five. Gerry McKenna won the
preliminary race.
They saved the best race of the
night for last as the Allen’s Coffee Flavored Brandy
Lady’s division staged an all out war for the victory.
No less than four cars were running the entire race,
side by side led by Shelby Lawrence and Dottie Patria.
Out of nowhere came Melissa Ferland, and she raced by
the leaders bringing Missy Morgan with her. Lawrence
retook the lead until the two lap indicator waved and
Morgan made her move in the outside lane. Morgan
executed a crossover move in turn four and took the lead
coming to the white flag and cruised to victory ahead of
Lawrence, Patria, Michelle Bisbee and Sue Veniott.
Lawrence won the heat race.
The Oxford
Acceleration Series continues on Wednesday night, June
18th as Allen’s Coffee Flavored Brandy presents the
nights activities. Post time is 7pm.
