DEANNA BISBEE
COLLECTS THIRD OAS WIN AT OXFORD |
Deanna Bisbee closed in on point
leader Chris Burgess after claiming her third Oxford
Acceleration Series victory of the season on Whited RV
night at Oxford Plains Speedway this past Wednesday
evening. Other winners included Jamie Heath, Shelby
Lawrence, Brian Darling and Will Dunphy.
The
Outlaw 25 lap main event was a tangled web as tight
racing throughout the pack kept the finish in doubt
until the checkers flew. Early leader Joe Morey launched
and engine in front of the field with ten laps
remaining, opening the door for Bisbee and Bryce Mains
to battle to the finish. Mains got to the outside with
three laps remaining, but was unable to complete the
pass allowing Bisbee to take the popular win. Mains,
Chris Burgess, John White Jr., and Brady Romano
completed the top five. Heat wins went to Morey and Josh
Toothaker. Burgess now leads Bisbee by a mere five
points and he holds a nineteen point edge over Bryce
Mains sitting in the third spot.
Jamie Heath kept
his win streak alive as he held off Gerard Cote by
inches as lapped traffic kept the finish in doubt until
the cars crossed the start/finish line. Robert Landers,
Josh Straiton and Cam Childs rounded out the top five.
Landers and Cote collected heat checkered flags.
The highly entertaining Sport Truck division saw another
close finish as Brian Darling nipped point leader Gerry
Mikenna at the stripe collecting the victory. Following
the leaders across the line were Kevin Oliver, Ajay
Cates and Herb Farrar. Heat checkers flew for Oliver and
Ryan Farrar.
The Ladies division saw point
leader, and race leader blow an engine, as Missy
Morgan’s #26 came apart in turn four handing the lead to
Dottie Patria. A few laps later Shelby Lawrence raced by
Patria and cruised to the win. Patria was second ahead
of Michele Bisbee, Shelby Shurtleff, and Shannon
Wheeler. Lawrence also captured the heat race and now
has a ten point lead over Morgan.
A bad right
front tire cost James Record the Cruiser victory as he
slid up the track in the fourth turn of the final lap
allowing Will Dunphy to sneak by for the win. Record
held on for second spot, with Ronnie O’Brien, Jeremy
Decoster and Dean Hayward completing the top five.
Record won the lone qualifier.
The Oxford
Acceleration Series returns to action Wednesday night,
August 6th at 7pm. All five divisions will be in action
along with the Kids Poster Contest. |
