GEORGE HASKELL IN OPS OUTLAW THRILLER |
The Wednesday night, Oxford
Acceleration Series continues to put on some of the most
exciting racing in the Northeast as once again racers
were two and three wide at the start finish line on NAPA
night at the races. Allen’s Coffee Flavored Brandy
victory lane featured winners, Chris Burgess, Missy
Morgan, Kevin Oliver, Jamie Heath and Robbie O’Brien.
The Outlaws saw George Haskell leading the way for
the first 21 laps of the 25 lap main event. While Chris
Burgess was challenging Haskell for the lead, third
through fifth place drivers Jon White Jr., Deana Bisbee
and point leader, Josh Toothaker tangled in turn one
bringing out the lone caution of the main event. On the
restart, Burgess got the jump, took the lead, and
cruised to his first 2014 victory. Haskell finished
second ahead of Bryce Mains, Toothaker and Dustin
Salley. Heat checkers flew for Haskell and Toothaker.
Missy Morgan passed leader Shelby Lawrence at the
midway point of the Allen’s Coffee Flavored Brandy
Ladies division feature and rolled to her third win of
the season. Shannon Wheeler, Sue Veniott, and Melissa
Ferland, completed the top five. Morgan also won the
lone qualifier.
Jamie Heath once again claimed
the checkered flag in the Runnin’ Rebels 20 lapper as he
held off a late challenge from Cam Childs and Josh
Straiton. Cody White and Eddie Smith rounded out the top
five. Childs and Straiton won their respective heat
races.
Robbie O’Brien stopped Will Dunphy’s
winning streak at three as he held off Dunphy the entire
race to score a popular victory in the six cylinder
Cruiser division. James Record, Briana Boardman and John
Poulin placed third through 5th. Will Dunphy won his
heat race.
Once again the Sport Truck class gave
fans a true nail biter, as Kevin Oliver nipped Brian
Darling and Ryan Farrar at the stripe in a three wide
finish to claim his first 2014 Sport Truck win. Also
right on the heels of the leaders were fourth and fifth
place finishers Jerry McKenna and Mark Grantham.
Heat wins went to Ajay Cates and Mark Grantham.
The Oxford Acceleration Series will be back in action on
Wednesday night, July 16th at 7pm. |
