OXFORD ACCELERATION ACTION |
It took a few extra days to
run, but the Oxford Acceleration Series took to the
track on Sunday night to make up their Wednesday night
rained out event. They teamed up with the scheduled
Motor Mayhem show to put on a full evening for race fans
on Budweiser night. Visiting the Allen’s Coffee Flavored
Brandy Winners Circle were Joe Morey, Shelby Lawrence,
Jerry McKenna, Will Dunphy and Jamie Heath.
The
Outlaw feature saw Joe Morey pick up his first win of
2014 as he edged out Deana Bisbee by half a car length
to score the victory. George Haskell raced home third
ahead of Josh Toothaker and Chris Burgess. Heat checkers
waved for Morey and Burgess.
Shelby Lawrence
gathered up her first career victory in the Allen’s
Coffee Flavored Brandy Ladies division as she held off
Missy Morgan’s repeated challenges. Sue Veniott, Michele
Bisbee and Melissa Ferland completed the top five.
Morgan carried the heat checkers.
The best
feature of the night was the Sport Trucks main event as
Jerry McKenna made it two wins in a row as he waltzed to
an easy victory, but the battle for second through fifth
ended with a four wide finish at the stripe. Kevin
Oliver placed second, Ryan Farrar third, Brian Darling
fourth, and Jeff Schmidt finished up in fifth. Darling
and Mark Grantham won their respective qualifiers.
The Runnin’ Rebels saw Jamie Heath holding off Bill
Grover for the win. Gerard Cote, Josh Straiton and
Harvey Poussard rounded out the top five. Robert Landers
and Heath won the qualifying rounds.
Will Dunphy
held off Ronnie O’Brien for the Cruiser victory, his
third win in a row. John Poulin, Dale Clark and Briana
Bodman placed third through fifth. Dunphy also captured
the win in the qualifying round.
The Oxford
Acceleration Series returns to action this coming
Wednesday as NAPA sponsors the night’s activities. Post
time is 7pm. |
