Oxford, Maine - Ryan Hewins of Oxford raced to a
close victory in the 30-lap Allen's Coffee Flavored
Brandy Street Stock race, topping the Friday night stock
car racing card kicking off the 45th Annual Oxford 250
Weekend at Oxford Plains Speedway.
Hewins kept a
stellar field of Street Stocks in his mirror throughout
the race distance, with his biggest test coming from
Uncle Kyle Hewins of Leeds, who lost second spot on the
final lap to Norway's Jordan Russell, who equaled his
best finish in the top Budweiser Championship Series
support division at the historic Route 26 oval track.
Jon Brill of Bridgton had a successful season debut
with an impressive fourth-place run. Jonathan Emerson of
Sabattus rounded out the top-five in a race that was
occasionally wild and highly entertaining to the healthy
crowd of race fans.
Jamie Heath of Waterford
nailed down another 20-lap Bandits division triumph,
outdistancing Waterboro's Travis Lovejoy in a close
battle. Championship contender Chad Wills of Buckfield
was third under the checkered flag, with Shaun Hinkley
of Oxford and early frontrunner Cody White of South
Paris filling out the top five.
Ajay Cates of
Lyman dominated the 20-lap Outlaw race, outrunning
Limington's Wade Gelinas to the checkered flag. Rick
Thompson of Naples earned third-place spoils, ahead of
Turner's Zach Bowie and Jimmy Duguay of Lewiston.
Adam O'Neil of Lewiston cruised to his first-ever
main event win in the Runnin' Rebel class, holding the
competition at bay throughout the 20-lapper. Waterford's
Jamie Heath chased O'Neil throughout the race befiore
settling for runner-up honors. Lewiston's Nathan Dubuc
was the third-place finisher, followed by Travis Lovejoy
of Waterboro and Bridgton's Adrianna 'Addie' McDaniel.
Brandon Varney of Mechanic Falls picked up another
win in the Cruiser class, outrunning teammate Will
Dunphy of New Gloucester to victory lane. Phil Knowlton
of Oxford, the division's defending champion, was the
third-place finisher, ahead of Oxford's William Barker
and Mikel Martin of Auburn.
Ryan Farrar of Oxford
kept his perfect record for the 2018 season intact,
winning yet another 20-lap race for the Sport Truck
class. Arundel invader Jared Kimball kept things
somewhat interesting, finishing a reasonably-close
second. Norway's randy green was third, followed by
Sebago's Kolby Morrell and Mark Grantham of Casco.
Breeanna Spaulding of Lisbon claimed victory in the
20-lap main event for Allen's Coffee Flavored Brandy
Ladies racers. Auburn's Kathryn Childs led a good
portion of the race and earned runner-up honors in front
of Wednesday night winner Chloe Kiley of South Paris.
Greene's Susan Veinott and taylor Graffam of Hollis
filled out the top-five rundown.
Kevin Varney of
Mechanic Falls prevailed in the 15-lap Figure 8 race for
four-cylinder cars. Kyle Hewins of Leeds was the best of
the rest, with Greg Durgin of South Paris third across
the finish line. Kevin Bishop of South Paris and
Auburn's Ralph Green rounded out the top five.

race of the year, outrunning Brady Heath of Waterford to
