OXFORD - The Oxford Acceleration
Series joined the
Memorial Day Motor Mayhem festivities Monday
afternoon and put on quite a show for the packed
grandstand of fans.
Calab Emerson-Mains
of Richmond dominated the 20 lap outlaw feature
picking up his first win of the season.
Emerson-Mains took the lead within the first lap
and pulled away from the pack. Rick Thompson
passed Gerald Freve on lap 2 for 2nd and spent
the rest of the race chasing down the leader.
3rd place was hard fought by Shaun Hinkley,
Brandon Varney,and Cody Childs, unfortunately
both Hinkley and Varney suffered from mechanical
issues. Cody Childs of Auburn ended up picking
up 3rd place. Dean Hanscom and Gerald Freve
finished 4th and 5th respectively.
Josh
Dube of Auburn topped the field in the 4
cylinder Figure 8s, While Dustin Salley and
Kevin Bishop beat and banged on each other for
2nd. After slamming him on a turn on lap 13
Kevin Bishop picked up 2nd place while Dustin
Salley settled for 3rd. Josh Knoll and Michael
Mckinney rounded out the top 5.
Breanna
Spaulding of Lisbon took the lead on the start
and led all 20 laps of the ladies feature. Susan
Veinott of Greene and Chloe Kiley of South Paris
had a close battle for 2nd during the race but
Veinott ended up in 2nd with Chloe Kiley
settling for 3rd.
Cam Childs of Leeds
pulled off a win in the Rebels feature after
passing Jon Childs on lap 13. Jon Childs fell
back, Nate Dubac quickly took his place and
remained in 2nd the rest of the feature, While
Cody White picked up a 3rd place finish. Conrad
Childs got 4th with Doug Degroat finishing
behind him in 5th place.
Randy Green of
West Paris captured a win in the Trucks with
Ryan Farrar of Oxford finishing behind him in
2nd and Jake Dobson of Hartford in 3rd. Rick
Dobson of Hartford rounded out the top 4.
William Dunphy of New Gloucester led the
entire 20 lap cruiser feature winning his first
race of the season. Bill Grover of Waterford
cruised in 2nd place comfortably during the race
while behind him 3rd place got rowdy. Phil
Knowlton of Mechanic Falls was racing in 3rd
with Luke Decoster hot on his tail before
Decoster spun him on lap 16. Knowlton retaliated
under caution but still managed to race back up
to 3rd and pass Josh Knoll before the race was
over. Josh Knoll and Luke Decoster picked up 4th
and 5th respectively.
The Motor Mayhem
winners were: Chris Merrill in the Spectator
Drags, Greg Dunn in the Smoky Donut Competition,
David Cook came out unscathed to win the 50 lap
Enduro, and Dustin Salley/Josh Dube won the 10
lap Chain Race.
Oxford Acceleration
Series returns Wednesday June 12th at 7pm with
their season opener. Motor Mayhem #2 of the
season is Friday June 21st at 7pm.
