Childs Dominates in Outlaws
OXFORD - Fans got their money's worth this week during Oxford acceleration series. Kids got race car rides with their favorite drivers and this weeks action on the track had all the fans on the edge of their seats to see what would happen next.

Chuck Estes of New Gloucester made his first trip to the winners circle in 15 years during the Trucks feature. Estes took the lead during the first lap and led the rest of the race. Kolby Morrell of Sebago passed Ryan Farrar for 2nd place on lap 4 and Randy Green of West Paris took 3rd when Farrar fell to the rear. Jake and Rick Dobson of Hartford finished 4th and 5th respectively.

Dustin Salley of Mechanic Falls picked up his 2nd win of the season in the 4 Cylinder Figure 8s. After battling Michael Mckinney for 2nd Salley made his way up to Josh Dube and took the lead from him on lap 4. Dube and Mckinney spent the rest of the race chasing him down but he couldn't be caught. Joshua Dube of Auburn settled for a 2nd place finish while Michael Mckinney of Bryant Pond picked up 3rd place. Kevin Bishop and Greg Durgin rounded out the top 5.

Breeanna Spaulding of Lisbon continued her undefeated streak winning her third Ladies feature in a row. The win didn't come easy for Spaulding, she had a hard fought battle with former Ladies champion Maggie Ferland. Ferland took the early lead and held off Deanna Bisbee and Spaulding until lap 6 when a debris caution came out. Spaulding passed Bisbee on the restart for 2nd and chased down Ferland, Spaulding got into Ferland on the frontstretch causing her to spin bringing out another caution. Spaulding was sent to the rear for the incident but Ferland still wasn't happy and made contact with Spaulding under caution. Ferland damaged her hood,on the restart it flew off under the flag stand bringing out another caution.

Ferland and Spaulding raced back to the front of the field and battled for 2nd. Ferland pulled away into 2nd with Spaulding in 3rd. With only 3 to go Spaulding got around Ferland for 2nd when Ferland got stuck behind a lap car. Spaulding made it to Bisbee during the last lap and beat her at the line. Deanna Bisbee of Greene picked up 2nd with Maggie Ferland of Poland having to settle for 3rd place. Sue Veinott of Greene and Chloe Kiley of South Paris finished behind them in 4th and 5th place.

William Dunphy Jr of New Gloucester took the checkered for the 2nd time this season in the Cruisers. Dunphy raced side by side with Phil Knowlton at the start before taking the lead from him on lap 4. Knowlton spent the rest of the 20 lap feature battling Bill Grover for 2nd place. Bill Grover of Waterford eventually passed him for 2nd on lap 13. Phill Knowlton of Minot picked up 3rd place while Carl Conant and Kevin Varney rounded out the top 5.

Cam Childs of Leeds crossed the finish line first during the Rebels feature but was Dq'd in tech making Nate Dubuc of Lewiston the winner. Dustin Salley of Mechanic Falls after spinning and restarting in the rear of the field passed Addie McDaniel of Bridgton during the final lap to take home 2nd, Addie McDaniels earned a 3rd place finish after holding off Nate Dubuc most of the race. John Childs of Leeds picked up 4th even after blowing up the final lap and Cody White of West Paris pulled off a 5th place finish.

Cody Childs won his first Outlaw feature of the season after leading all 20 laps of the race. Johnathon Emerson comfortably finished in 2nd place while Jacob Vaughn made Brandon Varney of Mechanic Falls work for his 3rd place finish, Vaughn held him off the first 9 laps before Varney took over 3rd and remained there the rest of the race. Jacob Vaughn of Naples finished an impressive 4th place finish while points leader Rick Thompson of Naples finished a respectable 5th place.

Oxford Acceleration Series continues next Wednesday June 26th at 7pm. While there may not be racing this Saturday night at Oxford, don't miss Motor Mayhem #2 this Friday June 21st at 7pm.
