Cam Childs Wins 2nd
Rebels Races in a Row |
OXFORD, ME - After a week off, Oxford
Acceleration Series returned this week with some
exciting on track action and another fan meet and greet
on the front stretch.
The 4 Cylinder Figure 8s
ran two features after being rained out during fireworks
night. Dustin Salley of Mechanic Falls led the entire 15
laps of the first feature with Joshua Dube of Auburn
banging on his door but Salley would not let him in.
Figure 8 newcomer Travis Verrill of Oxford finished in
3rd with Dale Durgin of Norway in 4th and Kevin Bishop
in 5th.
Travis Verrill led the entire Figure 8
feature during the 2nd race with Dustin Salley and
Joshua Dube battling once again behind him for 2nd.
Travis Verrill won his first 4 Cylinder Figure 8 race,
Dustin Salley picked up 2nd while Joshua Dube settled
for 3rd place. Dale Durgin rounded out the top 4.
Kolby Morrell of Sebago won his 4th Sport Truck race
of the season during the 20 lap feature. Morrell went
from last to 3rd within the 1st lap then quickly moved
onto 2nd on lap 7. Ahead of him Max Rowe had passed Ryan
Farrar for the lead. Morrell moved up to challenge Rowe
and raced side by side with him until a caution came out
lap 9. Morrell took the lead on the restart and led the
rest of the feature. Max Rowe of Turner fell back to 2nd
where he remained the rest of the feature, while Jake
Dobson managed to pick up a 3rd place finish even after
spinning out. Randy Green and Ryan Farrar rounded out
the top 5.
Breeanna Spaulding of Lisbon topped
the field in the Ladies Division winning her 7th race of
the season. She led all but 1 lap of the race before
pulling away from the field. Addie McDaniel of Bridgton
finished in 2nd and Susan Veinott of Greene settled for
3rd. Chloe Kiley of South Paris and Brandi Libby
finished 4th and 5th respectively.
Luke Decoster
of Greene won his 2nd Cruiser race of the season beating
points leader William Dunphy at the line. Decoster took
the early lead before Dunphy went 3 wide up to the front
reaching the leader on lap 5. They raced side by side
until the end still battling even when they reached lap
traffic. Decoster held on to the lead and captured the
win. William Dunphy Jr. of New Glouester settled for
2nd, while Phillip Knowlton of Minot was 3rd.. Behind
them Bill Grover of Waterford finished in 4th and Matt
Hiscock of Turner took home 5th.
Shaun Hinkley of
Oxford captured his 2nd win of the season in the
Outlaws. After pole sitter Gerald Freve fell back at the
start, Matt Veinott took over with Dean Hanscom and
Richard Tompson chasing him down. Hinkley movied
into 2nd after Hanscom took the lead. After a caution on
lap 6 Hinkley raced side by side with Hanscom and took
the lead on lap 8. Brandon Varney and Calab
Emerson-Mains fought for 3rd behind them before Mains
jumped the curb causing Varney to take 3rd. Varney moved
on to challenge Hanscom on lap 12 and passed him two
laps later. Varney chased down Hinkley for the lead but
after a restart Hinkley pulled away to get the win.
Brandon Varney of Mechanic Falls took home 2nd, Dean
Hanscom of Gray settled for 3rd, while Jacob Vaughn of
Naples and Cody Childs of Auburn finished 4th and 5th
respectively.
Cam Childs of Leeds took home his
2nd win in a row in the Rebels 20 lap main event. John
Childs took the early lead but after a caution lap 2 his
son Cam quickly took the lead with an inside pass on lap
5. Behind them Chris Foster and Cody Childs raced for
3rd. Cody passed for 2nd place before the #69 spun
bringing out a caution lap 8. Cody spent the rest of the
feature chasing down Cam but was unable to get it done
even after the Greg Sessions, Camp Wigwam sponsored #91
spun on the backstretch with only 3 to go. Cody Childs
of Auburn finished 2nd but was DQ'd in tech. Chris
Foster officially finished 2nd with Cody White of West
Paris taking home 3rd.
Oxford Acceleration series
continues next Wednesday July 17th at 7:00 PM, but don't
miss this week's double header with the Oxford
Championship Series racing on Saturday night at 7:00 PM
and the PASS Super Late models, PASS Mods, and Honey
Badger Bar & Grill Street Stocks Series event on Sunday
at 6:00 PM.
