Gerry Captures 3rd Win of the Season at OPS
|
OXFORD - Curtis Gerry of Waterboro
topped the field in the late models this weekend during
Oxford Championship Series winning his 3rd race of the
season along with extending his points lead.
Kyle
Glover of Oxford picked up his first win of the season
in the 15 lap figure 8 feature. After Saturday night's
race Glover is now two points ahead of Larry Lizotte of
Poland who finished in 2nd place while Greg Durgin of
South Paris took home 3rd place.
Owen Stuart of
Naples took home his 6th win of the season after a wild
Rookie feature. Stuart battled fought hard for the win
which unfortunately resulting in Brady Childs wrecking
during the last lap. Dylan Cook of Minot finished in 2nd
place with Cole Binette of Arundel taking 3rd place.
Jeremy Turner of Norway and points leader, Brady Childs
of Leeds finished in 4th and 5th respectively.
Travis Verrill of Oxford took the checkered for the
first time this season in the Bandits. Verrill won his
heat race before going on to lead all 20 laps of the
feature. Jeff Libby of Auburn finished a career best in
2nd place, Chad Wills of Oxford picked up the last podium
spot in 3rd. Points leader, Dustin Salley of Mechanic
Falls managed a 4th place finish with Alex Mowatt of
Norway rounding out the top 5.
Matt Dufault of
Turner won his 3rd street stock feature of the season
also furthering his points lead. Dufault, Pat Thorne and
Shawn Knight had a hard battle at the end of the race
but Dufault came out on top. Thorne of Standish ended up
settling for 2nd place while Shawn Knight of South Paris
took home 3rd. Jordan Russell of Norway finished in 4th
while Richard Spaulding of Lisbon rounded out the top 5.
Curtis Gerry of Waterboro beat out a field 20 late
models to win his 3rd race of the season, a feat no other
driver in the super late model division has done this
season. Tim Brackett of Buckfield led the first half of
the race and managed to still finish in 2nd place
holding off Austin Teras of Gray who picked up 3rd
place. Kyle Desouza of Wilmington, NC finished 4th while
Alan Wilson of Hebron finished a season best in 5th
place.
The next racing event on the Oxford Plains
Speedway schedule is the Oxford Acceleration Series
on Wednesday, July 30th at 7pm. The Oxford Championship series
continues next Saturday, August 3rd at 7pm. |
