Gerry Wins Back to Back Races at Oxford Plains

Curtis Gerry of Waterboro topped the field once
again this week winning the 50 lap Spencer Paving Group
Super Late Model feature.
Jeremy Turner of Norway
picked up his first win of the season in the ATA Piping
Inc Rookies.Turner held off Samuel Wardwell of Cape
Elizabeth and Maddy Herrick who finished 2nd and 3rd
respectively.
Eric Hodgkins of Winthrop found his
way to victory lane for the first time this season in
the Aroma Joe's figure 8s. Kyle Glover led the first 2
laps before having contact with Larry Lizotte bringing
out a caution. Hodgkins took the lead on the restart and
led the rest of the 15 lap race. Larry Lizotte of Poland
finished in 2nd with Kyle Glover of Oxford taking home
3rd.
Alex Mowatt of Norway won his 3rd feature of
the season in the Cooley's Commercial tires Bandits
division. Luke Mowatt took the lead from Josh Lovell and
led the race until lap 10 when Luke fell off the pace,
eventually coming to a stop at the pit entrance on turn
2 during lap 12 bringing out a caution. A. Mowatt took
the lead on the restart and led the rest of the feature.
Caleb Proctor of Casco finished in 2nd with Ralph Green
of Auburn picking up a 3rd place finish.
Shawn
Knight of South Paris captured his 2nd win of the season
in the Limited Late Models. Skip Tripp took the early
lead before Knight made his way through the field to
take the lead on lap 5. Jordan Russell was making his
way up the outside before being spun bringing out the
caution on lap 10. Unfortunately the restart was not
good and Richard Thompson drove into the rear of Richard
Spaulding not seeing that the yellow waved on the
restart. Thompson had heavy damage and needed assistance
back to the pits. Knight continued leading on the next
restart,Russell made his way back up and passed
Spaulding for 3rd on lap 13 before passing Tripp on lap
15. Jordan Russell of Norway finished in 2nd with Skip
Tripp of Oxford settling for 3rd place.
Kyle
Desouza took the early lead in the Super Late models
with Dennis Spencer and Ryan Robbins running him down.
Curtis Gerry passed Robbins for 3rd on lap 20 before
passing Spencer and Desouza on lap 26 to become the
leader. Gerry led the rest of the 50 lap feature. Kyle
Desouza of Auburn settled for 2nd with Ryan Robbins of
Dixfield picking up 3rd place.
The Oxford
Championship Series continues next Saturday May 22nd at
7pm. |
