Libby Captures His 2nd Win of 2022
|
Weʻve finally reached the end of the regular
season at Oxford Plains Speedway. This past weekendʻs
Motor Mayhem event was the 2nd to last points races for
the Oxford Acceleration Series divisions. Going into
Championship Night, Saturday, 9/10, some of the
divisions are going to have some pretty close battles
hopefully making for some awesome racing.
Jeff
Libby dominated in the Agren Appliance Rebels to win his
2nd race of the season. Libby took the early lead and
led all 20 laps. Addie McDaniel picked up 2nd place with
David Cook finishing behind her in 3rd. Going into
championship night Jeff Libby leads by only 1 point over
AJ Smith.
Will Dunphy took home his 2nd win of
the season in the PBʻNʻJ Yardworks Outlaws. Betty Nelson
took the early lead before being spun on lap 12. On the
restart Dunphy took the lead and led the rest of the 20
lap feature. Skip Tripp finished in 2nd place with Betty
Nelson picking up a solid 3rd place. Skip Tripp leads
the division by 20 points over Will Dunphy going in to
championship night.
Kyle Richardson won his first
ATA Piping Inc Sport Trucks feature on Saturday night.
Richardson led all 20 laps of the race. Matt Merrill and
Kyle Glover finished 2nd and 3rd respectively. Sam
Wardwell has a 18 point lead over Alex Moore going into
championship night.
John Childs picked up his 3rd
win of the season in the Rodneyʻs Repair Cruisers. Cody
Merrill took the early lead, but by lap 12 he had fallen
back and Childs quickly replaced him as the leader. Bob
and Ethan Guptill spent the rest of the feature chasing
him down but had to settle for 2nd and 3rd respectively.
Bob Guptill has a 20 point lead over John Childs going
into championship night.
Shelby Shurtleff won her
first race of the season in the T&M Commercial Funding
Ladies division. Breeanna Spaulding led all 20 laps of
the feature before being penalized 3 finishing spots for
jumping ahead on the initial start. Addie McDaniel took
home the 2nd place finish with Maddy Herrick getting
3rd. Maddy Herrick leads Breeanna Spaulding by 7 points
going into championship night.
Nick Wilson earned
his 4th win of the season in the Cooleyʻs Commercial
Tires Mad Bombers. Wilson took the early lead with Corey
Morgan chasing him down in the closing laps. During the
final lap Morgan and Wilson raced side by side for the
lead. Wilson won by mere inches - determined while the
drivers were in victory lane. Corey Morgan settled for
2nd place with Brian Caswell 3rd. The top 3 drivers in
points are pretty close going into championship night.
Ed Johnson leads with 11 points over Nate Barth while
Barth is only 3 points ahead of Cam Richards. It looks
like it going to come down to the wire to determine the
champion in Mad Bombers. |
