MIKE ROWE AND THE #7 TEAM |
MIKE ROWE, JOEY POLE ACE 150-LAP OPENERS AT
OXFORD PLAINS SPEEDWAY
151st career main event
win for Hall of Famer tops busy racing card |
Oxford, ME - Mike Rowe of Turner, Maine raced to
his 151st Oxford Plains Speedway main event win, earning
a trip to victory lane in his maiden voyage aboard Peter
Petit's lucky number 7 in AIM Recycling Pro All Stars
Series Super Late Model competition at Oxford Plains
Speedway on Sunday afternoon, while Joey 'Pole'
Polewarczyk prevailed in the co-headlining ACT Late
Model Tour 150-lapper.
Rowe, a 64-year-old
veteran, multi-time track champion and all-around legend
at the speedway where he was a track titlist a full four
decades ago, waged a race-long battle with reigning
series champion DJ Shaw of Conway, New Hampshire for
supremacy in a thrilling 150-lapper for the ultra-quick
AIM Super Late Models.
Shaw kept the pressure on
through much of the opening day test, yet Rowe was able
to slam the door shut and keep it that way, earning his
first trip to victory lane in his first start with
Petit, clearly a career highlight for the car owner.
Westbrook's Tony Ricci was fast all day long and
raced to a career-best third-place finish in the AIM
Recycling Pro All Stars Series Super Late Model class.
David Oliver of Standish overcame a disadvantageous
starting position to post a fourth-place finish after
some outstanding work in the cockpit in the HP Hood 21.
Garrett Hall of Scarborough impressed with an
outstanding fifth-place finish in the Super Late Model
finale.
Rounding out the top ten were Cassius
Clark of Farmington, Reid Lanpher of Manchester;Joey
Dorion of Berwick; Brian Hoar of Colchester, Vermont and
Bobby Therrien of Hinesburg, Vermont.
Joey
Polewarczyk of Merrimack, New Hampshire led wire-to-wire
in the 150-lap co-headline race for the
American-Canadian Tour Late Models presented by Dave's
Small Engine and Walker Mowers.
"Joey Pole's"
chief rival en route to the checkered flag was Wayne
Helliwell, Jr. of Dover, New Hampshire, claiming
runner-up honors after several tough battles from his
ninth starting position aboard the Bruce Berharndt Ford.
Nick Sweet of Barre, Vermont nailed down a
third-place finish aboard the Eric Chase 40 after
pressuring the eventual winner for a healthy portion of
the 150-lapper.
Perhaps the most impressive
drive of the day in the ACT race was turned in by Emily
Packard of East Montpelier, Vermont. , going
wheel-to-wheel throughout the event to move from 20th
starting position to end up in fourth position.
Jimmy Herbert of Williamstown, Vermont rounded out the
top five in the ACT 150. Rounding out the top ten were
Jeff White, Travis Stearns, Mike Ziter, Rich Dubeau and
Jonathan Bouvrette. Reigning and multi-time PASS Mod
kingpin Andy Shaw of Center Conway, New Hampshire kicked
off his title defense with the Sumner Sessions-owned
zero team in championship style, scoring the top step on
the podium following a competitive 35-lapper for the
PASS open-wheelers.
Shaw's closest rival under
the checkered flag was Newburgh racer Scott Alexander,
with fourth-generation OPS hotshoe Ryan Robbins grabbing
the final trophy. Buxton's Doug McClure crossed the
finish line in fourth position, followed by heat race
winner Matt Sanborn of Westbrook.
In the 25-lap
main event for Allen's Coffee Flavored Brandy Street
Stocks Oxford's Josh Childs got an early jump on Zach
Emerson of Sabattus, and fended off several challenges
from Emerson to kick off his season in triumphant
fashion. Turner's Calvin Rose, Jr. outgunned Naples
racer Keith Stuart in a race-long battle for third
position, and the final trophy offered. Richard
Spaulding of Lisbon rounded out the top five.
Anthony Nocella of Woburn, Massachusetts raced from the
back of the pack into victory lane in a non-stop 30-lap
feature event for the Wicked Cool Midgets. Kevin
Hutchens of Waterboro took advantage of a front row
starting spot and built an impressive lead while Nocella
patiently moved into contention, making his winning move
with only a couple of laps remaining. DJ Moniz of
Fairhaven, MA claimed the final podium position. |

PASS And
ACT Prepare For Historic Doubleheader At Oxford
Plains Speedway |
|
NAPLES, ME (April 9) - What once seemed like an
impossibility will be a reality in in just over a week
when the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) Super Late Models
and American Canadian Tour (ACT) Late Models race on the
same weekend at the same race track for the first time
in history. On Saturday, April 18 at Oxford Plains
Speedway, the Northeast's two premier stock car
sanctioning bodies will kick off their 2015 season with
Twin 150 lappers. New series sponsors, AIM Recycling and
Kenny U-Pull will present the PASS portion of the
history making event, while Dave's Small Engine Repair
and Walker Mowers sponsor the ACT Late Model race.
Hudson, NH's Joey Polewarczyk is the defending ACT
Late Model champion, but has raced extensively
throughout his career in Super Late Models. Polewarczyk
most recently drove a PASS Super Late Model in last
year's Mason Dixon Meltdown. "Joey Pole" as he is known
throughout the racing fraternity, along with Maine's
Travis Stearns, plan to compete in both the PASS AIM
Recycling Super Late Model Presented By Kenny U-Pull
feature and the ACT Late Model race. Although he knows
300 laps at Oxford Plains Speedway will not be easy,
Polewarcyzk is excited about his busy weekend.
"It's challenging just to run one car and try to get the
handling great for the race," says Polewarcyzk. "But now
the challenge is to get both cars, spending as much time
on both cars as you can, to try and get them handling
the best for a long run and a long race. But I feel
confident with my crew that we'll be able to get both
cars running well."
Polewarcyzk will not be alone
at Oxford Plains when it comes to talented ACT Late
Model drivers. Dover, NH's Wayne Helliwell, Jr., the
2012 and 2013 ACT Late Model champion will be there,
along with Jeff White of Winthrop, ME. White is a former
Oxford Plains Speedway track champion and winner of the
ACT Late Model event at Oxford in 2011.
Both
races will be chalked full of exceptional racers looking
forward to being a part of this historic event. Berwick,
ME's Joey Doiron has already gotten three races under
his belt this season and sits second in PASS South Super
Late Model points. Having been part of several major
races in his career, including the AIM Recycling Oxford
250 Presented By Kenny U-Pull, Doiron realizes how big
this event is, not only for New England, but for short
track racing in general.
"I'm excited to get back
to Oxford in our family car, we've been really good
there the last two years, and we were finally able to
get a win at Oxford in the last race there," said
Doiron, driver of the JBJ Machine-sponsored #73.
"Hopefully we're able to turn the year around after a
few bad runs in front of the huge crowd that should be
at Oxford Plains next weekend."
One of the best
fields in PASS AIM Recycling Super Late Model Presented
By Kenny U-Pull history is expected on Saturday, April
18 at Oxford Plains Speedway. Doiron will be joined by
defending series champion DJ Shaw, former champions
Johnny Clark, Cassius Clark, and Ben Rowe. Two-time
defending AIM Recycling Oxford 250 Presented By Kenny
U-Pull winner Travis Benjamin is always a strong
contender at Oxford Plains along with 3-time race winner
Mike Rowe. Quebec is represented in the early entries by
Eric St Gelais and Raphael Lessard and Nova Scotia's
Cole Butcher will be coming from the Canadian Maritimes.
Vermont's Brent Dragon and Connecticut's Dillon Moltz
will be joined by a strong contingent from New Hampshire
including Matt Frahm, Bryan Kruczek, and Andy Shaw. And,
as would be expected, a strong list of drivers from
Maine will be contenders led by Tim and TJ Brackett,
Richie Dearborn, Dave Farrington, Jr., Michael Landry,
Reid Lanpher, Glen Luce, Shawn Martin, Scott McDaniel,
Scott Mulkern, David Oliver, Tony Ricci, and Bobby
Timmons.
Opening weekend at Oxford Plains
Speedway begins on Friday, April 17 with rotating
practice for the PASS AIM Recycling Super Late Models
Presented By Kenny U-Pull, ACT Late Models, PASS
Modifieds, Wicked Cool Midgets and Street Stocks
starting at 1 PM. On Saturday, April 18, rotating
practice starts at 9:30 AM, with heat races beginning at
2 PM, followed by the main events.
The Pro All
Stars Series is recognized as North America's premier
sanctioning body for asphalt Super Late Models and
boasts such marquee events as the legendary AIM
Recycling Oxford 250 Presented By Kenny U-Pull at Oxford
Plains Speedway and PASS South's Easter Bunny 150 at the
historic Hickory Motor Speedway. For technical

HP Hood Joins OPS/PASS 2015 Season |
The Pro All Stars Series and Oxford Plains
Speedway are excited to announce that HP Hood has come
on as a sponsor for the 2015 Season. Hood has been a
great supporter of auto racing throughout the years and
we are very thrilled to have their support for this
season.
HP Hood will be the title sponsor of the
August 2nd PASS Race at Oxford Plains Speedway along
with sponsoring qualifying for the AIM PASS North Super
Late Models at all four PASS Races at Oxford Plains
Speedway including the 42nd Annual AIM Recycling USA 250
presented by Kenny U Pull.
The Pro All Stars
Series is set to open its season on April 18th along
with the American Canadian Tour as both series will host
150 Lap events. Many great drivers have already filed
entry forms for the PASS 150 including David Oliver who
is coming off a third place finish in last year's PASS
North Championship event at Oxford Plains Speedway.
Mike Rowe is also entered for the event and just
last week he had a podium finish in the 10th Annual
Easter Bunny 150 at Hickory Motor Speedway.
Eric
St Gelais will also be in action on opening day at
Oxford Plains Speedway. St Gelais already has started
off his season with two PASS South solid runs in the
PASS South Series at Anderson Speedway and Hickory Motor
Speedway.
The April 18th Season Opener is sure
to be a great race with the best short track drivers in
New England in competition. The HP Hood qualifying hosts
an abundance of excitement as the drivers all try to
make the main event. |

Cassius Clark Ready For AIM Recycling PASS
North Return At Oxford Plains |
NAPLES, ME (April 16) - For race fans throughout
New England and Canada, the wait is nearly over for one
of the most anticipated events in recent short track
racing history. On Saturday, the Pro All Stars Series
(PASS) AIM Recycling Super Late Mate Models Presented By
Kenny U-Pull and the American Canadian Tour (ACT) Late
Models will compete on the same racing car at Oxford
Plains Speedway for the first time ever. While fans and
competitors have patiently been awaiting this event,
perhaps no one has been looking forward to it more than
Farmington, ME's, Cassius Clark.
Clark captured
his first PASS AIM Recycling Super Late Model Presented
By Kenny U-Pull championship in 2013 and was once again
in contention for the title last year. But, an accident
at Speedway 95 as Clark took the checkered flag for his
second PASS win of the season, sent him prematurely to
the sidelines for the final three races of the year.
"A day doesn't go by that I don't think about how
our season ended last year," says Clark. "I'm
disappointed that we didn't get the chance to finish the
season out, but I'm anticipating our return to the track
in a brand new piece."
That piece will be a
completely brand new Hight Chevrolet #77 for 2015. A new
Port City Chassis has Clark excited for the new season.
"Our team will be more ready than ever," says
Clark. "This is the first time in my career that I will
be driving a car that is completely new and I'm really
looking forward to it. I have no doubt that I'll have
the best equipment and people surrounding me to help
steer into victory lane where we left off last year."
Lessons learned in last year's AIM Recycling Oxford
250 Presented By Kenny U-Pull have Clark confident
heading into this weekend's PASS season opener at Oxford
Plains Speedway. And while he is excited for this
weekend, Clark will continue to stay focused on the 250
as the year progresses, a race that has eluded him to
this point.
"The Oxford 250 is at the top of our
list," said Clark. "We've come up short the last two
years and, if a late race caution hadn't of come out
last year, we may have had a different outcome. We felt
like we learned a lot about our flat track program in
that race and our season started to turn around at that
point. Unfortunately, we weren't able to compete in the
final race at Oxford, but all of us on the Hight
Motorsports Team are looking forward to hauling our new
car up to Oxford Plains on April 18."
One of the
best fields in PASS AIM Recycling Super Late Model
Presented By Kenny U-Pull history is expected to join
Clark on Saturday, April 18 at Oxford Plains Speedway.
Veteran Joey Doiron will be joined by defending series
champion DJ Shaw and former champions Johnny Clark and
Ben Rowe. Two-time defending AIM Recycling Oxford 250
Presented By Kenny U-Pull winner Travis Benjamin is
always a strong contender at Oxford Plains along with
3-time race winner Mike Rowe.
Quebec is
represented in the early entries by Eric St Gelais and
Raphael Lessard and Nova Scotia's Cole Butcher will be
coming from the Canadian Maritimes. Vermont's Brent
Dragon and Bobby Therrien, along with Connecticut's
Dillon Moltz and Rhode Island's Kyle Desouza will be
joined by a strong contingent from New Hampshire
including Joey Polewarczyk, Matt Frahm, Bryan Kruczek,
and Andy Shaw. And, as would be expected, a strong list
of drivers from Maine will be contenders led by Tim and
TJ Brackett, Richie Dearborn, Dave Farrington, Jr.,
Scott Farrington, Mike Hopkins, Michael Landry, Reid
Lanpher, Glen Luce, Shawn Martin, Scott McDaniel, Scott
Mulkern, David Oliver, Adam Polvinen, Tony Ricci, Gary
Smith, and Bobby Timmons.
Opening weekend at
Oxford Plains Speedway begins on Friday, April 17 with
rotating practice for the PASS AIM Recycling Super Late
Models Presented By Kenny U-Pull, ACT Late Models, PASS
Modifieds, Wicked Cool Midgets and Street Stocks
starting at 1 PM. On Saturday, April 18, rotating
