THE STREAK CONTINUES AT OPS
GARY CHIASSON 9TH DIFFERENT PRO LATE
MODEL WINNER |
The red hot racing action
continued this past Friday night at Oxford Plains
Speedway in Oxford, Maine as the streak remains intact,
as there have been nine races and nine different winners
in the Budweiser Pro Late Models. Drivers visiting the
Allen’s Coffee Flavored Brandy victory lane on NAPA
night included Gary Chiasson, Corey Morgan, Troy Jordan
and Derek Cairns.
Another solid field of
Budweiser Pro Late Models rolled to the line for their
50 lap main event and as the green flag waved, Gunnar
Rowe and Kurt Hewins raced side by side until the first
caution waved when Hewins car slowed to a stop on the
front-stretch bringing out the first caution. On the
ensuing restart, the fourteen year old Rowe pulled away
and looked real solid until the 71 of Gary Chiasson
raced by on the outside. Caution flew again on lap 16
when Don Wentworth and Vanna Brackett tangled while
racing for the 5th position. TJ Brackett had nowhere to
go and piled into his sisters car ending her night, and
leaving him well off the pace for the balance of the
race. Shane Green and Jeremy Davis would battle hard for
the second spot, and Chiasson slipped away from the
pair. At the finish it was Chiasson, Green, Davis, Alan
Wilson and Justin Drake completing the top five. Heat
checkers flew for Rowe, Drake and Green.
Corey
Morgan held off a determine Josh Childs and Spencer
Morse to claim his second consecutive Allen’s Coffee
Flavored Brandy Street Stock feature victory. BJ Chapman
raced home 4th ahead of Ryan Hewins. Carrying heat
checkers were Richard Wentworth and Richard Spaulding.
Troy Jordan continued his winning ways in the Ripley
and Fletcher Ford Outlaw Sportsman 25 lap feature race
as he defeated Guy Childs Sr., Bryce Mains, Steve Moon
and Joe Morey. Childs Sr. and Morey claimed victory in
their respective heats.
Derek Cairns picked up
his second straight win after first and second place
cars, Shawn Hinkley and Cam Childs tangled with two laps
remaining in the Bandito’s main event. Dan Wade rolled
home second while Shawn Hinkley recovered in time to
finish third. Robert Kahkonen was fourth and Childs
completed the top five. |
