NEW ENGLAND DODGE DEALERS FINALE
QUICK RESULTS
September 13, 2008
Laperle dominates Dodge ACT 150;
Short, Karkos capture Little Guy 100s
OXFORD, Maine - Patrick Laperle of St. Denis, Quebec, dominated the
final 101 laps to capture the New England Dodge Dealers 150
American-Canadian Tour event Saturday at Oxford Plains Speedway.
Laperle took the lead from Glen Luce
on lap 50 and survived a brief battle with ACT rookie Nick Sweet
after the third and final restart of the race on lap 144.
The result represented the second ACT
win at Oxford for Laperle and career-best finishes on the tour for
runner-up Sweet and third-place Luce.
Luce also finished second in the TD
Banknorth 250 at Oxford in July.
Joey Polewarczyk Jr. and Eddie
MacDonald finished fourth and 10th, respectively, after qualifying
through the last-chance 'B' feature.
Polewarczyk and MacDonald made the
approximate three-hour commute from the NASCAR Camping World East
race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon, N.H., where
MacDonald won and Polewarczyk placed sixth.
OPS weekly competitor Shawn Martin
rounded out the top five. MacDonald edged Martin by a tiebreaker to
win the four-race L/A Harley-Davidson Challenge series and the
$2,000 first-place check from that point fund.
Nearly 600 laps of green-flag racing
thrilled fans for 6 1/2 hours in Oxford's season finale.
Mike Short (Strictly Stock) and
Justin Karkos (MIni Stock) captured the 13th annual Little Guy 100
open competition races.
David Childs won a pair of Chimney
Tech Outlaw races, including a 50-lapper rained out from last
Saturday's Acceleration Series Showdown and the regularly scheduled
20-lap sprint.
Rick Spaulding (Outlaw), Jamie
Leavitt (Runnin' Rebel), Jake Burns (Truck), Vanna Brackett (Ladies)
and Jamie Heath (Renegade) also went to victory lane on the busy
program.
