Mike Rowe Wins Oxford 250 Qualifier, Sets Stage for Dramatic Oxford Championship Series Title Fight

Mike Rowe scored an emotional and impressive victory on Saturday, August 15 in the Plant's Seafood 100 at Oxford Plains Speedway.

Driving from 20th in the 29-car field, Rowe took the lead in a three-wide maneuver around D.J. Shaw and Dave Farrington with eight laps to go, just before a caution flag flew. Rowe maintained the lead on the ensuing restart to win the 100-lap Super Late Model feature.

Rowe is a seven-time track champion closing in on 160 career wins at the Maine facility. Just four days shy of his 76th birthday, Rowe is still racing and winning at Oxford Plains - and could very well an eighth track championship.

Unofficially, Rowe leaves Oxford Plains with a one-point advantage in the Oxford Championship Series over Brandon Barker. One points-paying event remains for the Super Late Models, another 100-lap feature scheduled for Monday, September 7.

Rowe's 157th career win couldn't come at a better time. Not only did he unofficially take the championship lead, but he also earned a provisional starting position in the Oxford 250, as Saturday's race served as an Oxford 250 qualifier.

Rowe will be seeking a fourth Oxford 250 crown in the most prestigious and historic event at Oxford Plains Speedway and one of the crown jewel events in Super Late Model racing. Should he win the Nitro Trailers Oxford 250, he will become the first four-time winner of the event.

After a hot start to the season, Rowe is particularly glad to pick up this win to turn things around during a summer slide.

"We've been struggling a little bit. I've been running in the back with Max," said Rowe in victory lane. "We've been losing the tire stagger. I tell you, my crew, they got it all together for me tonight. We put it all together."

With the razor-thin margin in the championship battle, Rowe knows he will have his hands full on Labor Day when the Oxford Championship Series Super Late Model crown is decided.

"Brandon, you're going to be sick in a couple of weeks," joked Rowe. "No, he's not going to go away easy. I tell you, Brandon, he's a godo guy. He's a good racer. He's fun to race with. If he beats me, good for him."

Rowe also dedicated the victory to Rudy Kyllonen, Jr., who recently passed away.

"We lost a real good friend last week," said Rowe. "Rudy Kyllonen, I don't know if anybody knows him. Tommy Rooker drove for him.

"I told Tammy at the funeral, I said at the funeral I'm going to try to win one for Rudy. We did it. This one's for Rudy. He's going to give the trophy for Natalie. I don't know if she's up there tonight, but this one's for you."

D.J. Shaw finished second after starting sixth. He was poised to battle pole-sitter Dave Farrington, Jr. for the lead late in the race when Rowe stormed around both drivers on his charge through the field.

Rowe's performance impressed Shaw, announcing the strength of the No. 24 team entering the Oxford 250 weekend at the end of this month.

"He showed us we've got a little work to do," Shaw said. "We had a pretty big track position advantage on him and he overcame it. We'll go back to work and hopefully we can keep up with him next time and give the fans an even better show."

Barker capitalized on the late-race restart to take third place and keep the championship battle close. The performance also gives him confidence entering the Oxford 250 and the season finale over the next three weeks.

"Those cautions definitely helped us at the end there," said Barker. "I'm pumped for the 250. Whatever happens in two weeks or three weeks happens. Thanks to the fans, everybody."

Farrington finished fourth, with T.J. Brackett rounding out the top five.

Tardif Smokes Competition for First PASS Win in Oxford 250 Tune-Up

August 10, 2026 — Oxford, ME — Alexendre “Fireball” Tardif served up an inferno at Maine’s Oxford Plains Speedway on Sunday, August 9, to win the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) Tune-Up to the 250. The Notre-Dame-Des-Pin, Quebec resident started from the pole and never looked back on the way to his first PASS victory in the final visit to Oxford before Nitro Trailers Oxford 250 Weekend.

By scorching the field on a packed day of racing, Tardif became the third first-time PASS winner of the 2026 season. He is also the first Quebec-based driver to win a PASS event since Patrick Laperle in June of 2015.

The only serious challenge Tardif faced came in the early stages of the event when Johnny Clark and then Corey Bubar put pressure on the first-year PASS racer. Bubar got to draw alongside Tardif following the lone caution on lap 28 when Travis Stearns came to a halt with a flat right-rear tire, giving the veteran his best chance at the top spot.

Although Bubar was able to hang with Tardif for a spell, he and Clark eventually dropped back, unable to maintain Tardif’s torrid pace. They gave way to Jimmy Renfrew and Gabe Brown, both long-distance feature winners at Oxford already in 2026.

Tardif, though, was not to be denied, deftly working his way through traffic and eventually lapping up to 12^th place in the 28-car field. Renfrew, who had drifted back as far as 15^th in the early stages, acknowledged after the race that he had used too much of his car charging through the field to have anything left to contend for the win. As such, Tardif took the victory by 6.405 seconds, announcing himself as a legitimate Oxford 250 contender.

Renfrew and Brown were second and third, with the latter making serious gains in the PASS North championship chase, as point leader D.J. Shaw muddled home to a 12^th-place result. Cole Robe, Trevor Sanborn, Garrett Hall, Clark, Brandon Varney, Derrick Griffith, and Eddie MacDonald filled out the rest of the top 10.

In the Kennebec Equipment Rental PASS Modifieds, hometown favorite Bill Penfold dazzled the field and delighted the crowd on the way to his first win of the season. The 64-year-old’s day began by charging back from a flat tire to finish second in his heat race, which eventually earned him the pole for the 50-lap main event.

Penfold took it from there, manhandling his machine around the 3/8-mile oval to keep the pack at bay. Teenager Jacoby Maines proved to be Penfold’s closest adversary, even nudging ahead for two circuits following a lap-nine caution. But Penfold proved too strong, holding the inside line and getting stronger on the long runs.

Maines had a final chance on a restart with 15 laps to go, which ironically came after Penfold’s son Mike spun. The elder Penfold, though, brought it home, beating out the kids for his first victory at Oxford since 1992.

Another teen, Cody Macomber, grabbed the third spot with two laps to go when Tyler Connolly got together with a lapped car, setting Connolly back to fourth in the final rundown. Ricky Thompson Jr., Logan Spencer, point leader Spencer Morse, Jeremy Davis, Reed Reno, and Chanler Harrison were fifth through tenth.

The Tune-Up to the 250 was part of a massive Sunday at Oxford Plains Speedway brought about by a Saturday rainout. With the entire Oxford Championship Series weekly racing card moved to Sunday, fans were treated to nine divisions of fantastic action.

Renfrew’s runner-up in the PASS main event came not long after he triumphed in the Mid-Coast Excavation Super Late Model 50-lap feature. The Candia, New Hampshire standout flew through the field to grab the lead from Tom Abele Jr. on the 22^nd circuit and cruised to victory after a mid-race caution.

D.J. Shaw also did double-duty and came home second. Brandon Barker roared from 12^th to 3^rd and unofficially took the points lead with just two weekly features remaining. Dave Farrington Jr. and Abele completed the top five.

The KHM Thunder Stocks were also in the spotlight with a 50-lap special that saw Tyler Moore grab his fourth win of the season. After stalking leader Jacob Aptt for most of the event, Moore took advantage of an opening to grab the lead with seven laps remaining.

Shane Farrar also walked through the door and took second. Appt, Joe Turner, and Moore’s brother Spencer rounded out the top five.

Wade Gelinas took his sixth Dow Excavating Limited Sportsmen feature of the year in an epic clash with Shawn Knight. After Gelinas chased down Knight, the duo ran the last 10-plus circuits of the 35-lap feature wheel to wheel with Gelinas rolling on the outside. Knight made a last bid in the final corners which led to slight contact, but both held on, and Gelinas muscled across the finish line first.

Former champion Jordan Russell completed the podium. Chris Foster was fourth with point leader Kyle Treadwell in fifth.

It was a brotherly affair in the Street Stocks as Billy Childs Jr. held off his brother Jimmy for the victory. Jimmy tracked down Billy late in the 30-lap feature but ran out of time to make a move on the defending champion. Will Dunphy finished third followed by Spencer Barth and Rick Spaulding.

Nick Hoyt made quick work in the 20-lap feature for the Green Lawn Solutions Mad Bombers, needing only seven circuits to charge from the 11^th starting position to the lead. It was no contest from there as Hoyt grabbed his second win of the season. Cody Billing came home second followed by Josh Cook, Cole McIntire, and Adam Stearns.

Ricky Austin held off the pack to win a wild 207 Flight School Runnin’ Rebel main event. Point leader Gunnar Josselyn slipped through a late scrum to finish second ahead of Chance Childs. Ryder Cyer copped his second Aroma Joe’s Rookie victory this year with Mason Willis and Lucas Russell earning trophies.

The Pro All Stars Series travels to Riverside Speedway in Groveton, New Hampshire on Sunday, August 16 at 2:00pm. The make-up event is a doubleheader with the Milton CAT American-Canadian Tour that also includes the Kennebec Equipment Rental PASS Mods and ACT Twin State Flying Tiger Series. Plant's Seafood 100 Kicks Off Oxford Doubleheader Weekend

At age 76, Mike Rowe leads the weekly series points standings by a scant nine points over Brandon Barker after 13 races. The Plant’s Seafood 100 is one of three races left on the weekly racing series schedule. Evan Roy sits third in the standings only 18 points behind. With 120 points per race available to the winner, it truly is anyone’s title to win. Brandon Varney, Tom Abele Jr, and reigning champion Scott MacDaniel are all within striking distance if the top three falter.

Fan Meet and Greet Added to Huge Doubleheader Weekend at Oxford

August 4, 2026 — Oxford, Maine — Oxford Plains Speedway and the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) are teaming up for a big doubleheader weekend this Saturday and Sunday, August 8 and 9. As part of the festivities, a Fan Meet and Greet now highlights Sunday’s Tune-Up to the 250 card, giving PASS Super Late Model, Kennebec Equipment Rental PASS Modified, and KHM Thunder Stock drivers a chance to meet their biggest supporters before racing action begins.

Following the end of practice at 3:15pm, cars and drivers will line up on the frontstretch, and the track gates will be opened at 3:30pm for fans. Drivers can sign autographs, take photos, and mingle with fans until the track is cleared for a 4:00 p.m. post time.

“It’s always important to connect with the fans, as they’re what keeps this great sport going,” Oxford and PASS president Tom Mayberry said. “While we already had one meet and greet this year as part of Fan Appreciation Night, we thought it was important for PASS Super Late Model and PASS Mod teams to also have the same opportunity. We think this is going to get people even more excited about Sunday afternoon’s action and the Nitro Trailers Oxford 250 that’s around the corner!”

The meet and greet is part of two massive days of racing at the Route 26 oval. On Saturday, August 8 at 6:00 p.m., Plant’s Seafood will present Week 15 of the Oxford Championship Series. The Midcoast Excavation Super Late Models will go 100 laps in an Oxford 250 provisional qualifier showdown. Fans will also be treated to weekly racing for the Dow Excavating Limited Sportsmen, Street Stocks, Green Lawn Solutions Mad Bombers, KHM Thunder Stocks, 207 Flight School Runnin’ Rebels, and Aroma Joe’s Rookies.

Oxford Plains Speedway remains full speed ahead on Sunday, August 9 at 4:00 p.m. with the PASS Tune-Up to the 250. The PASS North Super Late Models go 150 laps in their final Oxford outing before the 53^rd Nitro Trailers Oxford 250 Weekend on August 28-30. The Kennebec Equipment Rental PASS Modifieds return home for 50 laps of open-wheel thrills. The KHM Thunder Stocks also have a 50-lap non-point special with added prize money, including a $200 bonus for the best finisher who also competes on Saturday night. The Fan Meet and Greet rounds out the program.

D.J. Shaw Surges to Stunning Celebration of America 300 Win

What looked like a battle between the United States and Canada for the victory in Thursday's Celebration of America 300 at Oxford Plains Speedway turned into a battle of Center Conway, New Hampshire in the closing laps.

D.J. Shaw, a nine-time champion in Pro All Stars Series (PASS) competition, charged to the front of the field just before the checkered flag at the conclusion of 300 laps - and a heavy downpour of rain as victory lane celebrations commenced.

As the race entered its final 40 laps, fellow Center Conway native Gabe Brown battled with Quebec's Alexendre "Fireball" Tardif for the lead. Brown successfully held off repeated attempts by Tardif to claim the top spot.

However, Shaw led a group of cars including Garrett Hall and Cole Robie who closed in on the lead duo as they fought for the point. Inside of 10 laps to go, Shaw passed both Tardif and Brown before opening a gap of more than a second at the finish.

As stunned as the crowd that braved the unseasonably warm temperatures to attend the Third Annual Celebration of America 300 may have been by Shaw's late-race heroics, he seemed just as surprised afterwards. He struggled to find the words to describe the win

"I can't even believe it, man," said Shaw in victory lane. "That was a 300-lap race, and we had the best car for five of them. They were just the right ones. I can't say enough about this team."

Brown, who won one of two 50-lap qualifier races on Wednesday, settled for second on Thursday. After Shaw's pass for the lead, Brown held off Tardif and company to maintain the runner-up spot.

"It just got too tight, both runs on the tires. Just didn't have enough there," said Brown. "The 5 car decided to rip my right-front off when I was passing him, so that ruined our race, too. We'll move on to the next one."

Tardif rounded out the podium, finishing ahead of Hall and Robie as second through fifth all crossed the line within a second of one another at the end of the 300-lap race.

"Thank you to everyone for being here," said Tardif. "Congratulations to D.J. The car was good. The last set of tires, I feel like there was something a bit off, but I'm glad the performance was there."

Derek Griffith rebounded from a pair of incidents during the on laps 183 and 194 to finish sixth. Sylas Ripley finished seventh, followed by Tom Abele, Jr., Travis Stearns and Trevor Sanborn.

Several front-runners over the course of the event saw their strong runs end in disappointment. Johnny Clark started on the pole after winning his Wednesday qualifier and led 42 laps early. However, a flat tire dropped him outside of the top 10, finishing one lap down in 14th.

Corey Bubar led 19 of the race's first 23 laps, and move back into the lead on lap 196. However, he lost power while under caution on lap 209 and did not return to the track, finishing 22nd.

Oxford Plains Speedway will host its Oxford Championship Series divisions on Saturday, July 11 for Maine Air National Guard Night in its next event. Post time is scheduled for 6 p.m. ET.

The next stop for the Pro All Stars Series is White Mountain Motorsports Park for the White Mountain 150 on Sunday, July 12, with racing starting at 2 p.m. ET.

Johnny Clark, Gabe Brown Win Celebration of America 300 Qualifiers

A pair of 50-lap qualifiers on Wednesday night set the stage for Thursday's Celebration of America 300 at Oxford Plains Speedway, with Johnny Clark and Gabe Brown scoring victories.

In the first qualifier, Johnny Clark jumped to the lead from the outside of the front row from the onset and led all 50 laps en route to the victory.

Clark, the 2020 winner of the Oxford 250, has enjoyed plenty of success at the Maine track over the years, but recent efforts have left him searching for that speed from the past. He hopes this week's Celebration of America will be a return to form.

"It's been a while since the 54 has gone around this place like that," Clark said in victory lane. "We've been working hard at it. I can tell you more of what doesn't work here than does. Boy, that was pretty good. It helps starting on the front row like that, but the thing never fell off. I was riding for half of it. I've got to save something there so we can use these tires later."

Corey Bubar finished second in the first qualifier, followed by Joey Doiron, Jimmy Renfrew, Jr. and Garrett Hall.

In the second qualifier, Gabe Brown, the most recent PASS winner at Oxford Plains, led wire-to-wire. Despite his recent win, the work hasn't stopped for Brown and his team back in Center Conway, New Hampshire.

"We made a lot of changes this week in the shop," said Brown. "We had a short week with having to be in Canada this week with ACT. The changes are obviously working. We've got some fine-tuning to do, but we've been hard at work all day making this thing a hot rod. We're looking forward to tomorrow."

Derek Griffith finished second, with Alexendre Tardif third, Trevor Sanborn fourth and Mike Hopkins fifth.

The field of Super Late Model racers will compete for 300 laps on Thursday in the Third Annual Celebration of America 300. They'll be joined by the PASS Modifieds and Oxford Plains Speedway's Mad Bombers division.

Brown Gets PASS Season Fully Righted with Win at Oxford

June 22, 2026 — Oxford, Maine — After an up-and-down start to the 2026 Pro All Star Series (PASS) season, Center Conway, New Hampshire’s Gabe Brown looks to have finally steadied the ship. The 23-year-old picked up his first PASS North win of the season and fifth of his career in a 150-lap showdown at Maine’s Oxford Plains Speedway on June 21. 2026.

Brown originally crossed the line a distant second as it appeared that Alexendre “Fireball” Tardif had grabbed his first PASS victory. However, Tardif was stripped of the win in post-race technical inspection, with Brown inheriting the victory ahead of Mainers Joey Doiron and Johnny Clark.

Until that point, the day looked like a near-repeat of the previous Sunday’s Star 150 for Brown. He was again the dominant driver early, leading the first 95 laps from the pole. But as Mike Hopkins got past Brown late in the going at Star Speedway, Tardif swept past Brown for the lead on the 96^th circuit at Oxford.

Tardif pulled away from there as Brown focused on pacing himself and holding onto second in a caution-free event. Doiron was able to reach third on the track from his ninth starting position, but Brown kept him comfortably at bay, thus putting himself in position to eventually be named the winner.

It was a redeeming moment for Brown as he got his first triumph driving for Bobby Webber Racing. Brown took over the seat late in 2025, and though he had scored two runner-up finishes so far in 2026, he’d also suffered numerous crashes and mechanical problems, including one that cost him a likely victory at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Brown and Webber were finally able to share a victory together as Brown unofficially climbed to a tie for second with Doiron in the season-long PASS North standings.

Point leader and reigning champion D.J. Shaw maintained his hold with a fourth-place finish. Tom Abele Jr. was the highest-finishing Oxford weekly racer in fifth. Garrett Hall, Derek Griffith, Brandon Barker, Jimmy Renfrew Jr., and Cole Robie completed the top 10.

Naples, Maine’s Spencer Morse had a perfect day in the Kennebec Equipment Rental PASS Modifieds to get his first win of the season. Like Brown, Morse earned the pole in qualifying. He then led every single lap around the 3/8-mile oval.

Outside polesitter Tyler Connolly dogged Morse the entire event but could never mount a serious challenge. It was Morse’s eighth career PASS Mod victory at Oxford, putting him just two behind a share of the all-time lead.

Connolly was second while Bill Penfold came in third for the second straight week. Cody Macomber, Jeremy Davis, Chanler Harrison, Matty Sanborn, Jacoby Maines, Rick Thompson Jr., and Thomas Brackett rounded out the top 10.

Hometown racer Kenny Hoyt continued his torrid streak in a 40-lap open event for the Green Lawn Solutions Mad Bombers. Just eight days after picking up his first win in the division, Hoyt secured his second, matching Morse’s performance by leading flag-to-flag from the pole position.

No one had anything for Hoyt as he took the checkered flag 3.4 seconds ahead of invader Brian Caswell, the defending Lee USA Speedway Ridge Runner champion. Brandon Caron completed the podium, followed by Michael Derden and Danny Wear.

The PASS Super Late Models and Kennebec Equipment PASS Modifieds return to Oxford Plains Speedway for the Celebration of America 300 on Wednesday and Thursday, July 1 and 2. A pair of 75-lap qualifying races on Wednesday will set the field for the crown-jewel PASS National event with the 300-lap main event on Thursday. The PASS Mods are part of the Thursday card. Post time is 6:00 p.m. ET on both days.

Jimmy Renfrew, Jr. Scores First Oxford Plains SLM Win in 250 Qualifier

Jimmy Renfrew, Jr. started a doubleheader weekend at Oxford Plains Speedway by punching his ticket to this year's Oxford 250.

Jimmy Renfrew, Jr. started a doubleheader weekend at Oxford Plains Speedway by punching his ticket to this year's Oxford 250.

Fan Appreciation Night at Oxford Plains was headlined by a 125-lap feature for the Mid-Coast Excavation Super Late Models. The contest also served as a qualifier for the 53rd Annual Nitro Trailers Oxford 250 on August 30.

Renfrew charged from 17th to first in the first 26 laps, then maintained the top spot to score the victory in the pivotal Super Late Model showcase. The win also marks the first Super Late Model win at Oxford for Renfrew, a former American-Canadian Tour winner at the Maine facility.

"It feels great," said Renfrew about the win. "This car was really good today. I tried to get it wound up there in the third groove for you guys, coming from 17th. I figured we started too far back. I just can't thank all my guys enough.

"Beating Mike Rowe here is like winning the Daytona 500, the way you guys cheer. Just can't thank everybody at Donnie Wilson Motorsports, Renfrew Motorsports, Dennis Dean, my parents, all my crew guys back there that bust their ass every week I make them go to the racetrack with me, 65 times a year. This is awesome."

With the win, Renfrew is guaranteed, at minimum, a provisional starting spot in the Oxford 250. He hopes to add some more Super Late Model wins at Oxford this year, whether it be in the 250 or the Celebration of America 300 next month.

"I've wanted to win a Super Late Model race here for a long time," said Renfrew. "We've won in the ACT car, and hopefully, we're going to come back and either get a 300 or a 250."

Young Cole Robie started on the pole and led the first 25 laps before turning over the top spot to Renfrew. Robie felt it was an easy decision at the time, believing Renfrew was pushing too hard on his tires to keep his pace for 125 laps.

Instead, Renfrew stayed strong and Robie brought home a runner-up finish.

"We had a great day. We had some brake problems here at the beginning of the day in practice. I have a great team behind me, they worked on this car steady. They were able to get me out here and have a fast car.

"We started on the pole, and Jimmy was coming. We let Jimmy go, I thought he was gonna burn his tires up. He didn't, and we fell short by one position today."

Mike Rowe, coming off a win one week ago, finished third on Saturday night. Rowe also drove from deep in the field, adding to his points lead in the Oxford Championship Series standings as Scott McDaniel struggled after an opening lap incident.

"We knew that Renfrew was real quick," said Rowe. "I want to thank everybody for coming out. I tell you what, you guys all come back next week, because this is a hell of a crowd.

"My crew did a hell of a job. They're doing a good job, they're making me look good."

Should Renfrew, Jr. qualify into the Oxford 250, the provisional goes to the highest finisher in Saturday's race who does not qualify into the marquee race.

Thomas Abele, Jr. finished fourth, with Brandon Varney rounding out the top five.

Super Late Model competitors will be back in action Sunday at Oxford Plains Speedway with the Pro All Stars Series battling for 150 laps. The PASS Modifieds and Mad Bombers will also be on track, with racing starting at 2 p.m. ET.

Naples, Maine — 6/20/2026 — Officials with Oxford Plains Speedway (OPS) and the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) announced today that Nitro Trailers out of Pittsfield, Maine has signed on to the title sponsorship of the 53^rd annual Oxford 250. The 53^rd annual Nitro Trailers Oxford 250 will be contested on August 30^th, 2026, with an approximate post time of 6:00 p.m.
